Mass Effect 3 Character Import Issue – Not Just A Cloud Problem

Last night, gamers everywhere eagerly lined up to grab what will arguably be the hottest sci-fi game of 2012, Mass Effect 3.  Like many of those gamers, I immediately headed home, fired up my Xbox 360 and started working away at importing my Commander Shepard character; the same character that has been with me through the previous two installments.

Everything went well enough.  I picked my character file, and then it asked me which save game to load.  After confirming that I wanted to use these files, a screen appeared with a “Saving File” icon, and then, nothing.  It just sat there.  Frozen.  I rebooted my Xbox 360 and attempted to import the character again with the same result, and tried a third time after installing the game to the hard drive.  It appears that I’m not the only one with import problems.  However, I did notice that before attempting to try one last time, there was now a “Resume” option on my menu.  I selected it, and the game promptly started at the very beginning, but with a level 30 character with all of my selections apparently still working.

So for some of us, it may just be a bug in the import function.  If you too are experiencing problems, you might want to see if you have a “Resume” option after your failed import attempt.  If so, then you might be able to get started on saving the Earth.

Stay tuned for our upcoming review of Mass Effect 3!
