BioWare Announces Dragon Age 3: Inquisition

Today is a good day for Dragon Age fans, as BioWare announced that the next title in the series will be coming in about a year.  Entitled Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, the game is set for a late 2013 release.

Apparently fan feedback as been very important for the title, which has been in development for two years, as a press release had this to say about it:

“The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now,” said Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal. “We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for — a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.”

What some gamers will find incredibly exciting to hear is that BioWare have been working closely with DICE to make the Frostbite 2.0 engine DA3‘s foundation.  For those unaware, the Frostbite 2.0 engine is capable of very stunning graphics and realistic animations, and is behind games such as Battlefield 3, Need for Speed: The Run, and the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter.  Hopefully this is a good step for the series, as it’s always lacked a little in terms of visual quality.

While it’s very little to go on at this point, the facts that fan-feedback has been taken into account and the Frostbite 2.0 will be powering the title are sure to set hopes high for Dragon Age 3: Inquisition.  Stay tuned for more info as we get it!
