Vancouver Loses VGA’s to Toronto

For the last four years the Canadian Video Game Awards have been held in Vancouver, but no longer.  The 2014 Video Game Awards will be held in Toronto in either March or April next year.  No location has yet been announced for the 2015 awards.

“[T]he intention has always been to have this a travelling awards show,” said Nicole Emmett, director of business development for Reboot Communications that co-produces the awards show.

Because Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are all cities that have a good video game development base, Emmett believes that the CGVA’s need to move around in order to showcase all that the video game community has to offer.

This past year’s 2013 Video Game Awards were broadcast on TV for the first time, with the big winner being Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 bringing home six awards:  Game of the Year, Future Shop Fan’s Choice Award, Best Animation, Best Game Design, Best New Character and Best Visual Arts.

I don’t know about all of you, dear readers, but I’m definitely looking forward to this event.
