Razer Sponsored Alliance Wins $1.4 Million At DOTA 2 Championship

Alliance, a professional video game team has won this year’s International 3 Dota 2 tournament.  The team, sponsored by Razer, a developer of high end gaming systems, hardware and software, has won the top prize of over 1.4 million US dollars at the tournament.  The total winnings available at the event was 2.87 million which was the most prize winnings ever offered at a competitive gaming event.

There were a total of 16 teams that competed in The International 3 which began on August 3rd at the Benaroya Hall in Seattle and finished this past weekend in the same hall.

“Moments like these are why we got involved in the world of eSports in its infancy, and why we sponsor more than 400 players globally today,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, CEO and creative director.  “Alliance’s amazing performance, coupled with the Taipei Assassins winning League of Legends’ Season Two championship last year, gives further credence to the global relevance of eSports, and to our raison d’être in the computer gaming space.”

After facing the Season 1 winner (and Season 2 runner up) Na’Vi of Ukraine, team Alliance from Sweden won by a slim margin taking three games to two.

“It was an amazing match against great competition and it’s a shame that somebody had to lose in it, but we’ll happily take the win,” said TEAM ALLIANCE SPOKESPERSON.  “This is the greatest day in our professional lives, and it’s a great day for the millions of eSports fans across the world who are sharing in the moment with us.”
