Majesco’s Take Shape: First Impressions

Ever watch those Japanese game shows where contestants have to contort their bodies to avoid the large Tetris-like shapes flying at them?  Well, now you can have a similar experience with Majesco’s Kinect game, Take Shape!  Like most Xbox 360’s Kinect games, in Take Shape you can either play by yourself (but what’s the fun in that?) or with a group of friends in a multiplayer mode.  The objective is simple: twist, scrunch, stretch and… Read On »

Majesco’s Mind ‘n Motion: First Impressions

When I first saw Majesco’s new Kinect game, Mind ‘n Motion, showcased in their E3 meeting room, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread wash over me.  Seeing the on-screen avatar standing in a lab setting, I immediately drew comparisons to Dr. Kawashima’s Body and Brain Connection.  Not that Body and Brain wasn’t fun to play; It was just the harsh (good-natured?!) name-calling that I couldn’t bear.  Having been emotionally scarred by Dr.… Read On »

Join the Battle Against Fruit in Fruit Ninja Kinect!

“Hate fruit?” These two simple words can elicit any response ranging from vehement nodding to double-takes – especially if those words are written on a non-descript wall…with a cartoon sensei urging you towards an alleyway. However, if you give into your curiosity like the young man within the Halfbrick Studios’ Fruit Ninja trailer, you’re definitely in for a treat. Although I must admit that I love all types of fruit, I have no problem slicing and… Read On »

First Impressions of Disney Universe

At the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo, one could hardly miss the various Disney Universe posters hanging at the exhibit hall entryways.  They kind of reminded me of the Lilo & Stitch teaser trailers where Stitch snuck into the scenes of well-known Disney movies and sabotaged the set.  Similarly, the Disney Universe posters had childlike cartoons dressed as some of the favourite Disney characters (Stitch, Aladdin and Jasmine, Tron, to name a few), in their respective… Read On »

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure – The Beloved Purple Dragon is Back!

If you’ve seen the Skylanders trailer, you’ll know that Activion’s latest in the Spyro franchise is unlike any other game we’ve encountered before.  In Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, an evil portal master, Kaos, has taken over Skylands, the magical utopian world that is Spyro’s home.   With an evil cackle, Kaos banishes Spyro and his friends onto Earth, and they’re frozen as toy replicas of themselves. With the game’s premise, Activision has integrated the toy market into the… Read On »

Deus Ex: Human Revolution First Impressions

Since Square Enix acquired Eidos and Crystal Dynamics, they’ve been hell-bent on bringing back some of the greatest videogame franchises of the late 90’s and early 2000’s, and the Deus Ex franchise is no exception.  This is the third installment of the series and the first to grace a console with its presence since 2003, this highly anticipated prequel is due to hit stores this August.  However, we got a firsthand look at the game… Read On »

Hitman: Absolution – First Impressions

Agent 47 returns a little worse for wear in Hitman: Absolution, coming in 2012.  Betrayed, alone, and on the run, Agent 47 must put all of his skills to use not to hunt, but to survive.  We met with the crew from Square Enix and got a first glimpse of his new upcoming adventure. Our demo began on a dark and rainy night as Agent 47 breaks into an abandoned library attempting to elude police… Read On »
