Game: “FanExpo 2011”

Hands On With Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD on Xbox 360

Being a huge fan of the Metal Gear series since the ‘80s, I was excited (to say the least) when Solid Snake made his return with Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation in 1998.  Since then, the MGS series has grown to immense popularity with three additional sequels on the PlayStation platform as well as additional releases on Nintendo consoles and the PlayStation portable.  Point in fact, Metal Gear Solid 4 was the only exclusive… Read On »

Puddle Hands On

Toronto’s 2011 edition of FanExpo showcased many interesting and entertaining events and games –, a couple of which stood out in my mind.  One of those games was Puddle, a Konami title coming out for the XBLA/PSN, shown to us off-site at the Konami Gamers’ Night 2011 at Real Sports Bar’s upper lounge. Puddle has a very simple concept that produces extremely fun and challenging puzzles.  The player is given a puddle of liquid that… Read On »

Karaoke Revolution Glee Volume 3 – Hands On

Gleeks of the world rejoice!  There’s a new edition of Konami’s Karaoke Revolution Glee series dancing to shelves this Fall.  In Karaoke Revolution: Glee Volume 3, fans of Glee can sing along to over 35 songs from season 2 of the hit musical TV show and relive the high and low notes of the season with their favourite characters.  Though I’m not a huge fan of the show (don’t hate me, Gleeksters!), I felt oddly… Read On »

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Multiplayer Hands On

Everyone’s favourite Abstergo Templars are back to training in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations multiplayer.  Now into the home stretch before its impending November release, fans are getting more hands-on experiences of the game; PlayStation Plus subscribers and PlayStation Uplay members are even getting started in the multiplayer Beta as we speak.  Last week, FanExpo attendees also got the opportunity to take a stab (see what I did there?) at the new multiplayer mode, Deathmatch –  something… Read On »

Where You Leedmees, They Will Follow

This game was reviewed on the Xbox 360. What would you do if you came across cute little helpless creatures wandering aimlessly?  Are you a Good Samaritan that would help guide them safely home? Or will you laugh at their misfortune and squash them like little bugs?  Our writers were put in that exact situation last weekend, at Konami’s Gamer’s Night event at the Real Sports Bar in downtown Toronto, as we got some hands-on… Read On »

Batman Arkham City Hands On

Of all the games and demos on display at Toronto’s 2011 FanExpo, one of the most anticipated (at least by me), was Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham City.   Two years after the release of the epic first instalment of the series, Batman: Arkham Asylum, the Dark Knight is back in the saddle for a mid-October release.  And I get the pleasure of recounting my experience with the demo.

Rocksmith – Hands On

When I was growing up, I really wanted to be in a band.  Not a Rock Band band (such things didn’t exist when I was that age), but a Rock and Roll band.

The Gunstringer – Hands On

With six shooters blazin’ and marionette strings waxed, The Gunstringer comes out firing this September for the Xbox 360.  As Twisted Pixel’s first non-XBLA release, it will be really interesting to see how the game performs as a full length title.   Originally intended as a download title, it outgrew the size limitations and was moved to an actual disk.  This past weekend, fans were given the chance to shoot the sheep and wrangle with some… Read On »
