Toronto FanExpo Day 1 Wrap-up
We wrapped Day 1 of our expedition to the Toronto Fan Expo in awesome fashion! We got to sit down with some of this holiday season’s biggest titles and we’ll be bringing our impressions to you soon! Gunstringer, Rocksmith, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, and MGS HD are just a few of the items on our list for the coming days as well as interviews from some very cool notables. Stay tuned!

Game On: Extra Life 2011
On October 15th at 8am, for my second year in a row I’m going to fire up my Xbox and embark on the Long Road I call Extra Life: 24 hours of gaming in the name of charity. I’m sure that once more, around the 18th consecutive hour of my unblinking eyes being seared by the merciless television, I will pause and wonder just what the hell got me thinking this was a great idea. And the answer will be as simple as it is cliché.

ESRB Mobile App Does Well to Make Our Lives (As Parents) Easier
Being a gamer and a father, I’m well aware of the goings on in the Games Industry and what my 12 year old daughter should and should not be exposed to when playing video games. However, many parents simply don’t know the difference between Call of Duty and Pokemon. While the ESRB has done wonders for the gaming industry in the way of education, and clearly marking games today with a rating and a brief description as to why the game received the rating that it did, many parents still seem to need more information to help them make a determination on whether a game purchase is ok for their child or not.
For example, take Halo: Reach and Duke Nukem. Both games receive an M rating. However, parents may have seen Reach and said to themselves, “Well, it’s just a bunch of guys shooting aliens. That’s not all that bad.” Then they look at Duke and wonder how it can be any different. In reality, we as gamers know that Duke is a far cry from Halo, as the Chief has never come across topless dancers or received a BJ in a stall on a Covenant carrier. Nerdcore Rising – Get Elevated!
Damian Hess, better known by his stage moniker MC Frontalot, takes us for a behind the scenes look as they embarked on their first tour. Starting in South Carolina and driving cross-country you follow Front, Sturgis, G Minor 7, Black Lotus, and Brandon in the good times and bad as they explore the unknown by bringing Nerdcore Hip Hop to the masses.
Nerdcore Hip Hop, a term first coined by MC Frontalot in a 2000 song of the same name, has become the musical focal point of nerds, geeks, and freaks since the spawning the entire sub-genre. This style of music combines hip-hop with nerdy pop culture references such as Star Wars, Comic Book Conventions or Japanimation as the topics of these songs. Read On »
