Style Your Vita With Skinomi Techskins (Carbon Fiber Review)
Last week, Jordon took a look at Skinomi’s Techskin screen protector for the PlayStation Vita. It was such an impressive product that we decided to examine another Techskin of theirs. Skinomi has made some exceptionally stylish skins that not only protect your screen, but wrap around your PlayStation Vita, proving protection to the unit entirely from scratches or other mishaps.
I obtained the Carbon Fiber Techskin last week, and applied it to my PlayStation Vita. The kit came with the front screen protector, a rear touchpad protector, and a number of pieces to apply to my Vita’s silver and matte portions. It also included some very simple instructions, a squeegee and solution to help apply the skin to the portable console. My Vita was wrapped in a beautiful silver carbon fiber finish within just a few hours. Due to the curvature of the PlayStation Vita’s back panels, it took a bit of effort to get the skin properly aligned; however, the results were gorgeous.
While playing with the Vita, the textured finish of the Techskin wrap also provided me with the additional benefit of allowing me to know exactly where my fingers were at on the back of the device at all times. This ensured that I did not accidentally rest my fingers on the touchpad by mistake, which saves a lot of mishaps from occurring when playing games like Escape Plan where a mis-tap on the back panel can send your characters flying to their doom. Another benefit with a full skin is if you’re a person who wears rings, you don’t have to worry about them chipping the finish like my wedding ring did with my PSP.
Overall, the Skinomi Techskins provide a decent level of protection from scratches and dents while providing you with the opportunity to personalize your PlayStation Vita with a little bit of style. For the price of about $25 retail, it makes for an excellent investment.
The Skinomi Techskin Silver Carbon Fiber receives a 5.0/5.0.
